Joseph Marzola

Hello! My name is Joseph (Joey) Marzola, and I am an MSW Intern here at Orange County Therapy. I am currently under the Supervision of the practice’s founder, Emily Mayot. I will be graduating from the University of Denver this June (2025) from their Graduate School of Social Work’s ‘Mental Health & Trauma’ track.

While I am early in my career, I am well-acquainted with the life-changing power of therapy, having started my own mental health journey with trauma-focused therapy roughly eight years ago. I transitioned to this career path after almost two decades in the corporate world. My lived experience in  navigating and healing from challenging - and sometimes toxic - workplace dynamics brings added perspective into my practice. My previous internship was at Mercy House Living Centers, a non-profit focusing on ending the cycle of homelessness in Orange County. I provided case management and Motivational Interviewing to a diverse group of unhoused/at-risk individuals, and learned much about the systemic societal issues that contribute to many of the traumas that I hope to help heal in my clients.

My style is strengths-based, trauma-focused, diverse, flexible, and integrative. My attitude is infinitely compassionate and approachable. I want to meet you exactly where you are in the present, but I am always happy and willing to dive into the past or future with you, as well as change gears/focus/goals as best meets your current needs. I look forward to connecting with you!
